  10.      Ronald A. Ploszaj has been named deputy assistant laboratory
  11. director for the Office of Technical Divisions at the Jet
  12. Propulsion Laboratory.
  13.  
  14.      Ploszaj, whose position became effective April 5, succeeds
  15. Dr. James King Jr., who was recently named assistant laboratory
  16. director for the Office of Technical Divisions.
  17.  
  18.      Ploszaj joined JPL in 1967 as a spacecraft systems engineer. 
  19. He has served as a line supervisor and manager and has held key
  20. project managerial positions in the Flight Projects Office and
  21. the Technology and Applications Program Office.
  22.  
  23.      He has served as manager of the Mechanical and Systems
  24. Engineering and Research Division since 1987.
  25.  
  26.      Prior to joining JPL, Ploszaj was an electronics engineer at
  27. the U.S. Naval Avionics Facility in Indianapolis.
  28.  
  29.      Born in Chicago on April 17, 1939, Ploszaj earned a
  30. bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Valparaiso
  31. University, Indiana in 1961 and a master's degree in the same
  32. discipline from Purdue University in 1965.   
  33.  
  34.      He is the recipient of the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal
  35. and numerous group and project achievement awards.
  36.  
  37.      Ploszaj is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics
  38. and Astronautics (AIAA).
  39.  
  40.      He and his wife, Joanne, live in La Crescenta, Calif.   They
  41. have two adult children.
